Eva Rubinstein decided to photograph Łódź, the home town of Artur Rubinsetein, her father, shortly after the end of the martial law in Poland, when she was having a coversation with the director of the Museum of the History of the City of Łódź, Antoni Szram. At that difficult time for the Polish people, Ewa Rubinstein was photographing Łódź and its environs on her several-month-long visits to Poland, accompanied by a guide, a Museum employee, Maciej Maciejewski. In a sense, she treated her task as a means of testifying to the reality of those days.
Exhibited in Łódź (1998), Paris (1999), Philadelphia (1999), New York (2002).
Publication: Łódź - Momentary Meetings (Wojciech Grochowalski, 2007) - attached to the photograph.
