This photograph comes from an ongoing series, Calmed Portraits, which Hueckel has produced since 2007 on her foreign travels. Her inspiration comes from communion with endless and wild spaces - steppes, deserts, mountain ranges, and oceans, which emanate both power and calmness. Contact with nature allows Hueckel to calm down and adopt a distance. Calm Portraits are part of a wider, open-ended project, Emotional Self-Portraits, produced in collaboration with Tomasz Śliwiński.
Exhibitions of the series: Calmed Self-Portraits, Fotohuset, Kristiansand, Norway (2010); Nature(s), LA(B) GALERIE ARTYFACT, Paris, France (2014), Calmed Portraits, Galeria Bałtycka, Koszalin (2015).
