The photograph was inspired by works known from the history of Polish photography, including Wacław Szpakowski`s Multiple Self-portrait (1912) and Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz`s Multiple Self-portrait (1915 - 1917). The motif of multiple self-portrait has also been used by Robakowski in his later works. He addressed the problems of illusion in his film, television and photographic experiments.
The work has been exhibited and reproduced in exhibition catalogues, including: Józef Robakowski - the Magic of the Mirror - Multiple Portraits, Labirynt 2 Gallery, BWA Lublin; FF Gallery, Łódź; Municipal Gallery, Wrocław (1991).
