As Buczkowska says about the series, "when working with a photograph, I superimpose another reality onto existing image. By introducing a metaphor and ambiguity into the image, I give a different dimension to the representation." She is interested in getting deeper into emotions. As she explains, "the Sanatorium in the title suggests a special situation, opens up a space where an ‘anomaly,’ illness, and the period of treatment are tolerable. Sanatorium is a place of weakness. Both the relationships and time abide here by different rules than accepted in the official - normal life."
