This photograph was taken in Warsaw, on the eastern side of Mokotowska Street, just off Trzech Krzyży Square. At the time, Mroczek was one of the most active members of the Art Section of the Polish Photographic Society. He was nicknamed Childmaker since children were the central focus of his pictures. As Mroczek himself recollects, he chiefly photographed children because they were the easiest, but also the most gratifying, topic for an amateur photographer. As he explains, "children acted naturally in front of my camera, paying no attention to the fact that they were being photographed, and if they did, this was to encourage me to take a picture of them."
