In 1959, Jerzy Lewczyński organised the exhibition Closed Show, later renamed Antiphotography, in Gliwice jointly with Zdzisław Beksiński and Bronisław Schlabs. The photograph is an example of Lewczyński`s experiments. As Elżbieta Łubowicz puts it, the artist "presented works characterised by innovative aesthetics, creating sets expressing the poetry of prosaic life out of aesthetically neutral photographs".
The photograph found its way into numerous shows in Poland and abroad and has often been published in materials about the artist and his work. The Museum in Gliwice owns another print of it.
