The photograph shows the famous film and theatre director Andrzej Wajda (1926-2016). At the time when Łopieński took this portrait, Wajda was making his film Everything for Sale, which was a tribute to Zbigniew Cybulski, who had died tragically in 1967. Simultaneously, Wajda was working on Layer Cake, a short comedy based on a script written by Stanisław Lem.
