Being a collection of portraits of former German concentration camp prisoners, Irreversible is also a record of face-to-face encounters with their experiences, thoughts and feelings. Travelling with his wife, the photographer visited several dozen prisoners across the world - people of various nationalities and religions, sometimes having diametrically opposing views. The pictures were taken in the homes of those portrayed, in intimate conditions, during a conversation, when - under the influence of strong emotions evoked by wartime memories - the photographed persons re-submerged in the camp situation.
The series was awarded in Grand Press Photo (2010); NPPA The Best of Photojournalism (2010); Pictures of the Year International (2013); BZ WBK Press Foto (2013).
Exhibitions of the Irreversible series: VII Gallery, New York (2013); Leica Gallery, Warsaw (2013).
Publications: book Irreversible (Exit Zero Publishing, 2013) and magazines: L’Espresso, Stern, New York Times, CNN, Huffington Post, Slate.
