A Trinket from the Trinkets series

2011/2012
Diasec, Kodak Professional Endura, 80 x 120 cm,
label with signature, date and description on the reverse,
edition: 2/5 + 1 a.p.

The Trinkets series consists of a set of works or objects placed in urban spaces. They include such commonplace cityscape features as a phone booth, a dustbin or an old Volkswagen Beetle. In real life, they merge with the surroundings, become grey and banal, which makes us disregard them. To change this, the artist mounted small mirrors all over the surface of the objects, i.e. a disco ball, to make them glitter and stand out.
The trinkets can be appreciated in two ways: as urban space installations and as photographic objects lit during a photographic session to achieve the reflection effect. The series is a continuation of the author`s previous experiments with art in public space, re-design and ready-mades, adaptation of everyday objects, and their elevation to the status of artwork.
The work is accompanied by the Trinkets album.
