This diptych is probably a sketch for Fotografika II, which was to be a continuation of Hartwig`s much-celebrated book Fotografika (Arkady, 1960, II 1963), but which never came into existence. In his famous 1960s publication, Hartwig proposed a new way of thinking about photography and editing it, which was completely different from the still prevailing approach propagated earlier by Bułhak. He presented viewers with clear, graphic-like pictures, which he boldly combined with each other, stressing the essence of art photography and the supremacy of its visual aspects over the contents.
