Towards the end of the 1980s, Libera made spontaneous videos with the children who visited his mother’s home. He turned live broadcasts of plays, which involved transmitting the camera footage on a TV screen, into films, which he later made part of his artistic repertoire. However, the ultimate works were photographs - pictures of the TV screen, because the artist destroyed the original videos, fearing the secret police of the then communist government, which were harassing him at the time, and could potentially come up with false accusations of paedophilia and child-molesting.
